Dr Ewan Knox

Dr Ewan Knox is a researcher based at Newcastle University Business School. He is working alongside Professor Alan MacKinlay and researchers at Heriot Watt University, investigating the business history of the retail fashion design industry in the UK in the period 1960 to 1990.

Ewan has a PhD in history from the University of Edinburgh and has a varied teaching background in industrial relations and history. A former tutor for the Workers Educational Association, he joined the University of Northumbria in 1989 working in the division of Industrial Relations and Trade Union Studies. He joined the Department of History in 1990. His specialisms lie in nineteenth and twentieth century social history. He took early retirement in 2014 and joined the Enterprise of Culture project on a part-time basis in October 2014.
